Filming locations

I filmed at my own house, and in my local area, with characters walking down the streets and to Arbury court. The character then also bought chips from Arbury court fish bar, and this was another location that was filmed.

Editing experiences

While editing, I had to make lots of adjustments and edits to my footage. Firstly, once I had assembled a cut, it became apparent I had too much footage and that my cut was too long with a duration of 3 minutes 30 seconds. I had to make lots of smaller edits and cuts to different shots and also remove some shots altogether which were tough decisions as there was nothing in the cut that didn't add to the narrative of the show. Furthermore, it took me a long time to find a good piece of music to put in that fitted with my vision for the show. When it was added in, it drowned out all of the dialogue from my audio, so I had to use keyframes to lower the volume of the music when characters were speaking in several shots. My show is a documentary so doesn't require a heavy amount of editing or special effects, however I did use some effects such as adding text and fading it in and out, making different shots go over the top of a section of audio from another shot, and also making the...

Photoshoot mood boards

Image
Some mood boards I made of photos that have inspired my magazine photoshoot. Some of the images are actual magazine covers that have inspired me, however some are just images from separate photoshoots but the style the photos have been shot in and how they have positioned the people in the images and the scenarios they are pictured in have inspired my photoshoot.

Theory

Claude Levi-Strauss: His theory of binary opposites is relevant to my TV show, as it features the opposition of healthy vs unhealthy. This is to do with the food Dudley eats and also the personalities of the unhealthy Dudley and the healthy Dr.Alan. Uses & Gratifications: This theory applies to my TV show as it gives viewers some of the uses & gratifications, such as information and education, as it gives viewers an insight into other people's lives in their society, and also has educational elements such as when Dr.Alan explains the unhealthy aspects of food. Todorov: Todorov's narrative structure has the stages of: Equilibrium, disruption of equilibrium, recognition of disruption, attempt to repair and new equilibrium. Dudley's equilibrium of his eating habit is disrupted when Dr.Alan arrives, and they work together to create a new equilibrium where Dudley has a healthier diet. Steve Neale- The theory of repetition and difference applies to my show as it is ...

Final script

Dr. Alan is talking to the camera outside Dudley's house Dr. Alan- Welcome to the crazy eating habits of the UK- the show where we meet people who are seeking help to change their dangerous diets. This week, we travel to Cambridge to meet Dudley,  a man who only eats food the colour yellow and hasn't eaten a vegetable in over 10 years. Title sequence of Dudley preparing food. Dudley and Deano are sat on a sofa talking to the camera Dudley- It all started when I was a kid really. My Dad used to make me eat broccoli, sprouts, spinach etc. with every meal but one time I vomited so much that it just scarred me to be honest. I found comfort just eating crisps and chips all day and now that's what I love to eat. Sequence of Dudley walking to takeaway. Deano- Yeah I'm really worried for Dudley, I know that this isn't normal and I know it's dangerous for him. Me and the boys will go out and if we go kebab van or something Dudley will  just get...

Magazine Treatment sheet

Title: Millennial Monthly Target Audience: 18-35 year millennials. They don't necessarily have a steady or high income as they may still be studying or in their first jobs. The magazine will not be expensive, so that it can be in a young millennial's price range. They can be from AB to C1 and C2, as it is stylish but also contains some less sophisticated articles such as about 'Crazy eating habits of the UK'. The magazine targets male and female audiences and therefore has articles that can appeal to both. It won't be very political however it will be more left wing as millennials are more left wing than other age groups, and the target reader is likely to be a labour voter. Form and style: My magazine is influenced by other lifestyle magazines such as GQ, Elle and Cosmopolitan. It will look sleek and stylish using colours that are simple but aesthetically pleasing. However, unlike GQ or Elle it won't just focus on either male or female audiences but it will...

Magazine layout ideas

The layout of the magazine will be the cover which is a photo of the two stars of the programme- Dr.Alan and Dudley together in a pose. The double page spread will feature another photo, this time of Dudley on one page, with a q & a with the two of them on the other page, with a quote from the interview enlarged in the middle of the page.

Magazine cover practice

Image
I have made this cover as a rough practice cover with pictures from google images to get the hang of using photoshop. It is inspired by a GQ cover and I have taken cover stories from other GQ covers to go on the cover except for the story on my TV show. This isn't representative of my final cover I made it just to practice for my own cover.

Dificulties while filming

Thursday 1st November- Actors were late so couldn't film as much as we had planned to film. Filmed around half of it. Sunday 4th November- Main actor cancelled last minute meaning no filming could be done. Wednesday 7th November- One main actor could only film until 4 and other main actor could only arrive at 4, so had to re-film everything already shot on the 1st with different actors. Almost finished filming but have one scene left. Actors struggled to remember some of the longer lines, so some lines in the script were cut slightly.
