Aims & Intentions

I am creating a documentary on Channel 5 about food and helping people. I will construct representations of individuals by how the show gives an insight into people who aren't usually shown in the media and who have habits that are considered strange. Also, through the doctor it gives an educational part of the show where people learn how things are dangerous, and how they can receive help. It is a shocking documentary which is targeted at a target audience of 18-35 year old 'millennials'. This is because the show inscribes people of this age so it appeals to this audience, and also other similar shows such as 'Freaky eaters' and 'embarrassing bodies' have been popular amongst my target demographic. Title- Crazy eating habits of the UK. Genre- Documentary (Channel 5), shocking documentary. Logline- Dr. Alan specialises in food and health, and travels up and down the UK helping people who have weird and dangerous habits in their diet. USP- The show is about real people who go on a journey, and it gives an insight into people who do really weird things and how they can be helped, which gives it educational parts. Each show features 4 parts all for different people with different habits. Audience- 18-35 year old millennials, slightly more aimed at younger side of the audience who aren't looking for a high-concept or complicated plot.

Dr. Alan is talking to the camera outside Dudley's house Dr. Alan- Welcome to the crazy eating habits of the UK- the show where we meet people who are seeking help to change their dangerous diets. This week, we travel to Cambridge to meet Dudley, a man who only eats food the colour yellow and hasn't eaten a vegetable in over 10 years. Dudley and Chris are sat on a sofa talking to the camera Dudley- It all started when I was a kid really. My Dad used to make me eat broccoli, sprouts, spinach etc. with every meal but one time I vomited so much that it just scarred me to be honest. I found comfort just eating crisps and chips all day and now that's what I love to eat. Chris- Yeah I'm really worried for Dudley, I know that this isn't normal and I know it's dangerous for him.
