Editing experiences

While editing, I had to make lots of adjustments and edits to my footage. Firstly, once I had assembled a cut, it became apparent I had too much footage and that my cut was too long with a duration of 3 minutes 30 seconds. I had to make lots of smaller edits and cuts to different shots and also remove some shots altogether which were tough decisions as there was nothing in the cut that didn't add to the narrative of the show. Furthermore, it took me a long time to find a good piece of music to put in that fitted with my vision for the show. When it was added in, it drowned out all of the dialogue from my audio, so I had to use keyframes to lower the volume of the music when characters were speaking in several shots. My show is a documentary so doesn't require a heavy amount of editing or special effects, however I did use some effects such as adding text and fading it in and out, making different shots go over the top of a section of audio from another shot, and also making the ending go into slow motion.
