Initial response to brief.

In response to the brief I have began to research for my work. The first research was studying TV listings for ITV and Channel 5 and seeing what kinds of programmes are shown on these channels. I have looked at some potential options that are factual and fictional. ITV has some soap opera shows such as Coronation street, and Emmerdale so a soap opera could be a good option for a fictional show. Channel 5 also runs the soap opera Neighbours, so these type of shows seem to appeal to the target audience. ITV also has some daytime talk shows such as Loose women and The Jeremy Kyle show. This type of show could be a potential non-fiction option as they are clearly fairly popular shows. There are also game shows such as The Chase and Tipping Point that are broadcast. They are popular and appeal to the target audience, however it may be hard to fit a game show into the brief as it may be hard to include a point of significant conflict for example. ITV and Channel 5 also broadcast lots of documentaries so this could be an option for factual. I have now chosen to do a documentary for Channel 5 titled: Crazy eating habits of the UK. It will be a hard-hitting 'shockumentary' that fits in with the kind of shows Channel 5 are looking for.

  1. Any ideas so far what you would like to do? You haven't said much about documentary - is that something you'd be interested in? Good blogging so far
